The BNP’s candidate in the Oldham East and Saddleworth by-election has said “high unemployment and anti-white racism” are the main issues for his campaign.
Derek Adams also used an interview with Saddleworth News to say he had “a little bit of sympathy” with former MP Phil Woolas, who was stripped of his victory in May’s general election for telling lies about an opponent in his election leaflets.
Appearing with his party’s Chairman Nick Griffin in Lees yesterday, Mr Adams said: “I was speaking to some lads on an estate the other day in Sholver, and they’ve just got no hope, they’ve lost all hope. They weren’t going to get a job, there’s no jobs about for them. It’s as simple as that really.”
When asked what the BNP would like to see done about unemployment, Mr Adams called for a boost to the manufacturing sector: “The only jobs we seem to be providing in this country nowadays are office jobs, and I’m sorry but they don’t really make money do they.”
He also said “common sense” was needed on tackling the deficit: “Why are we giving billions away in foreign aid, when we’re having to charge extra VAT for our own people? Why are we spending billions in Europe? There’s a whole rake of issues there.”

On the Phil Woolas affair, Mr Adams commented: “The odd lie that he put on his leaflets pales into insignificance to the lies that we’ve been told by Labour, Tories, Lib Dems, all the main political parties for the last fifty, sixty years. He’s been told one little lie and been kicked out of parliament, all those have told many, many lies and are still there.”
Mr Griffin added: “Obviously he was telling lies, but the purpose of his lies was to tap into the really deep and growing feeling among ordinary, English people in particular, that there’s a real problem with radical Islam in the country as a whole, and in Oldham in particular. In effect he got elected by stealing, not directly our message, but by trying to steal the ground that we were standing on.”
The Euro MP also criticised the “political elite” for spending money on things like the EU and bailing out the banks, adding: “It’s ironic we’re here again in snow, when all the main political parties and all the councils are spending billions of pounds a year on the global warming fantasy. It’s ways in which the liberal elite are seeking to remake our country in a way that suits them, instead of listening to ordinary people.”

I wonder what solar system George lives on? Last I heard December was the coldest on record. The weak Solar radiation has lost its hold on the jet stream. I am disgusted at the actions taken against Mr. Adams at the hustings, and the undemocratic decision not to invite 5 of the candidates. I do hope voters will recognise that they are being treated like mindless sheep by the organisers denying them the opportunity to hear all candidates and ask questions of them.

I agree that they should not have been excluded as actions such as this are really difficult to defend. Nonetheless it’ll probably work in their favour come election day. Thankfully he has NO chance of getting elected.
Removing this man from the hustings wasn’t just a disgrace but an affront democracy and to those morons that advocated this, you will reap what you sow.
Can you not see, that when you sanction acts like this, you’re not only trying to stifle the opposition to what YOU believe in, but giving credence to the BNP.
