Winger Shaun Robinson has left Saddleworth Rangers to sign for Oldham. The 21-year-old has agreed a one-year deal with the Roughyeds, as he leaves the amateur rugby league game behind. Chapel Road Greenfield and Lydgate are the latest Saddleworth villages to be affected by the ongoing effort to improve retaining walls around our area. Work begins today on projects in both places. In Greenfield, Chapel Road will be affected along its full distance, from its junction with Chew Valley Road right up to where it meets Oldham Road. Vehicles will be diverted via Shaw Hall Bank Road. A driver had to be cut free from the wreckage of his vehicle after crashing into a tree near Buckstones Road this afternoon. The incident happened on a stretch of track which leads off Buckstones Road, past Pingot Quarry, and up to Slences Farm. According to a spokesman for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue, an emergency call was received just after 1pm. The car park at the museum in Uppermill will have a three-hour limit. New time limits on most car parks in Uppermill won’t be enforced for another two weeks. They were due to come into action tomorrow, but have now been put off until 14 February. The reason for the delay wasn’t immediately clear. Our local police have again reminded drivers not to leave their cars unattended while defrosting them on cold mornings. A vehicle was stolen in exactly those circumstances in Springhead earlier today. During the snow in late November and early December, at least three cars were stolen in that fashion across the borough of Oldham, including one in Diggle. Uppermill Civic Hall Work to extend and modernise Uppermill Civic Hall is on target to be completed in May. Parish councillors were told during Monday night’s meeting, held in the building’s lower hall, that the work is currently “slightly ahead of schedule.” The council’s clerk said the work had continued according to plan despite December’s bad weather. Cllr Jim McMahon: "We have listened to the people of Oldham." The opposition Labour group on Oldham Council has revealed its alternative proposals for the authority’s budget. Labour said its plans would see proposed cuts worth £3.3m to adult social care removed, with £5.1m of separate savings identified in areas including communications and councillors’ allowances. The Old Bell in Delph. The Old Bell in Delph has become the latest premises to join Saddleworth Parish Council’s community toilets scheme.
