Police say there has been a large increase
in burglaries in the Saddleworth over the last few weeks and that extra resources have now been deployed to the area.
Last night there was an attempted burglary at a house on Whitehead Close in Greenfield and last week three houses in Delph were also broken into.
A silver car believed to be a VW Passat was seen in suspicious circumstances on Thurston Clough Road in Delph and a silver VW Golf with the number X109 EDG was also seen near to three other burglaries - police are keen to speak to the occupants of both vehicles in relation to these crimes.
A police spokesperson told Saddleworth News: “There has been an increase in reported burglary over recent weeks in the Saddleworth area particularly in the Delph, Dobcross, Greenfield and Uppermill areas.
“Additional Police resources have been deployed to the area and the local neighbourhood team are varying their shifts to address the current crime trend.
“Regular posts via social media @gmpsaddleworth and other Saddleworth news sites are keeping the local community updated.”
Saddleworth News understands that West Yorkshire Police are also experiencing issues around burglary offences with a large increase noted in the last few weeks.
Local residents are asked to be extra vigilant and report any suspicious activity or suspected incidents on 999 and only use the 101 emergency number if passing on other information.

Just ran a MOT check on this car X109 EDG, out of MOT so one can only guess nothing else on it and even not used by the name on the logbook.
