Local MP Debbie Abrahams has given a statement about the Saddleworth Beer Walk. She said she’d been contacted by several constituents concerned about the scrapping of the annual charity event.
Her statement said: “I am replying to all the letters and emails saying how very disappointed I am that the organisers have come to this decision.”
Ms Abrahams continued: “I fully understand and appreciate that the Beer Walk is an integral part of Saddleworth’s heritage and a significant community event.”
She added: “I am trying to contact organisers, although without success to date, and I have been in contact with Chief Superintendent, Tim Forber, to discuss this matter.”

Debbie.
Is that the best you can say “understand and appreciate”
If you were to give this as much media attention as you did for the Police cut backs during your election. Then this £58,000 loonacy would be sorted out !
PULL YOU FINGER OUT !
What’s the point in commentating on this beyond a bit of publicity? If there is something you can do just get on and do it instead of posturing and trotting out cheap platitudes. I’ve been hoping our new MP might get on with quietly representing her constituents but have seen little evidence of this so far unfortunately
You get what you vote for !
Her interest in this will be minimal. It’s got no connection with the NHS and wont help to get her a job as a health minister / shadow minister. Heading for the stars on Andy Burnhams coat tails and sod the electorate.
Why wasn’t our MP brought into this when problems arose ? She is our MP - regardless of party politics - she should at least be given the chance to show folk what she is capable of.
We elected her, we pay her salary and we should involve and use her don’t you think ?
