Exclusive: Schools Axe Cost Council £278,000

The government’s decision to scale back its school-building programme cost Oldham Council more than a quarter of a million pounds, Saddleworth News can reveal.

The total amount of money spent by the council and lost forever was £278,777. That includes fees paid to designers, architects, builders and consultants.

The idea of restoring a bus service between Denshaw and Newhey has been mooted by a local member of Saddleworth Parish Council.
