Achtung Baby: Are The Germans Overprotective?

Suze Nowak

Achtung Baby is a column about family life written by Suze Nowak, who is originally from Denshaw and now lives in Germany:

HERE IN LOWER SAXONY, having just let out collective sigh of relief as the source of the E Coli shocker was eventually pinpointed, we were told there would be no resting on our laurels. Just as we were happily munching our way through cucumbers again, a new threat to our health… hold on to your […]

Saddleworth Out Of Tanner Cup

Saddleworth CC lost their Tanner Cup quarter-final to Bamford Fieldhouse, in a match which had to be played on consecutive evenings this week because of rain last weekend. In reply to Bamford’s 180 all out, Saddleworth came up just short on 166/8.

Here’s a report of the action, from a Saddleworth perspective, by Graham Oldham:

MONDAY’S PLAY ENDED WITH Bamford Fieldhouse 93/5 in the 28th over as bad light and then a torrential downpour put an end to the proceedings […]

Delph And Dobcross Still Top Despite Defeat

Delph and Dobcross held onto their lead in cricket’s Huddersfield League by a single point over Kirkburton, despite a disappointing weekend.

Skelmanthorpe […]

Remaining Mostly Fine And Dry

The decent weather we’ve had is likely to continue into the weekend, and it may even start to feel warmer again by the time we get to Saturday and Sunday.

However, before that we could see some showers during today, and it won’t exactly be hot, with top temperatures of 18C.

Friday ought to be dry though, with regular sunny spells in amongst cloudy conditions. The weather is forecast to improve further over the weekend though, and temperatures should climb […]

Old Woolpack In Dobcross Likely To Become Private Home

The Old Woolpack.

A quick update on the future of the former Woolpack pub in Dobcross, which in its most recent incarnation was known as The Shambles.
