After the miserable holiday Monday, the weather is finally forecast to take a turn for the better this week. Today should be mostly dry and sunny, with just the odd shower likely. Temperatures should reach 16C. Wednesday will be dry again albeit cloudy, but there should be more sunshine around on Thursday and Friday, and the temperatures should start to warm up a little too. Three teenagers arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary following an armed raid on a house in Grotton have been released on police bail. The trio, aged 17, 18 and 19, were all detained by police shortly after the incident, which took place on Grotton Meadows at about 11pm on Wednesday night. Wrigley Mill Methodist Church in Diggle, the home of the organ played in the video above, is to end religious services next month. Church members made the decision at a recent meeting because of the falling number of worshippers at the church, which is on Huddersfield Road. The last service will take place on Sunday 26 June. A girl of 16 was attacked on the path next to Wellyhole Street in Lees on Wednesday night, according to the police. A statement issued by GMP said the victim was out walking her dog when the incident happened at about 8:40pm. Not much exercises folk around Saddleworth quite like the issue of potholes. Residents and councillors alike regularly describe various surfaces as being “the worst” in the area, a discussion which has become even more heated since the impact of the bad winter weather on our roads. Oldham Council has regularly defended itself (see here) against claims the borough’s roads are in poor repair.
