More Mist, Fog And Rain On The Way

It’s going to remain mostly overcast yet relatively mild over the coming days, with forecasters predicting regular mist and fog along with rain and sleet showers, which could turn to snow occasionally.

It should be mostly dry today with the odd bit of drizzle around. Top temperatures of 6C are being predicted, so several degrees higher than we’ve had for most of what has been the coldest December on record.

More cloudy and foggy weather is forecast for tomorrow, with […]

During Christmas and New Year, Saddleworth News is looking back at some of the stories which made the news in 2010.

The Yanks procession goes past Castleshaw.

There was a new name but many familiar aspects to August’s Wartime Weekend, now called Yanks Are Back In Saddleworth. There was a mixzed response from local people, and a variety of views can still be read here.

Drama struck during the procession, as a man was left badly injured after he […]

Water Almost Fully Back On In Delph

Only a relatively small number of homes in Delph are still without water following yesterday’s burst pipe. According to United Utilities, supplies have now been restored to all addresses, except those on Millgate and Stoneswood Road.

The cause of the problem was a burst water main on Millgate itself. Householders on several streets in the village began reporting either low water pressure or no water at all shortly before 8am on Boxing Day.

By that lunchtime, the water was back […]
