Rise In Alcohol-Related Crime In Saddleworth

Booze-fuelled crime rose by more than 10% across Saddleworth and Lees last year. Figures for 2009/10 show 82 alcohol-related incidents were recorded by the police, compared with 73 during 2008/09.

The statistic is broadly in line with the borough-wide trend. There was a 12% increase in crimes related to alcohol across the Oldham Council area. [...]

Commons Debate On Police Funding

Government plans to cut the police budget across Greater Manchester by almost £7m have been criticised by opposition MPs during a Commons debate.
