Canals Open Again Following Linthwaite Fire

Both the Huddersfield Narrow and Huddersfield Broad canals have now re-opened following Monday’s fire at the Grosvenor Chemicals plant at Linthwaite. Officials from British Waterways are satisfied that pollution from the incident, which had got into the River Colne, has now dispersed.

A new book full of stunning images of our area has gone on sale. The Simply Saddleworth photobook was the idea of local photographers who made contact with each other on the Flickr photo-sharing site.

Parish Council Reveals New Website And Logo

Saddleworth Parish Council has updated its website and logo. Both were formally revealed at Monday night’s meeting at Uppermill Civic Hall.

The website and logo are the work of Lees-based company Cornerstone. They’ve spent the last three months putting both together, at a cost to the council of £3,000.
