Two attempted kidnappings in Rochdale

Police are appealing for the public’s help after two attempted kidnappings in Rochdale. At around 4pm on Monday 2 October 2017, the first attempted kidnapping took place on Crossgates Road in Milnrow. A 12-year-old girl had been walking along the road when a white Renault Transit van pulled up alongside her, explaining that she could have a lift anywhere she wanted to go. Raspberry Pi in Space for the Saddleworth Air Training Corps

Saddleworth Air Training Corps have hopes and plans of running a Raspberry Pi experiment on-board the International Space Station next month.

In September cadets from 2200DF (Saddleworth) Air Cadets wrote a computer code to send to the International Space Station as part of a wider initiative run through the Raspberry Pi Foundation, known as Astro Pi. The code was written in the coding language of Python, as used by the cadets at school.

Blank shots fired in Oldham

Detectives are investigating after blank shots were fired in Oldham.

Shortly after 11.50pm on Monday 16 October 2017 a man was seen with a gun on Waltham Street in Alexandra.

He fired the gun a number of times - but it was not aimed at anyone – before walking away in the direction of Roundthorn Road.

Officers attended and recovered blank cartridges which suggest no bullets were fired.

The Saddleworth Male Voice Choir will present their annual Concert of Remembrance at the Civic Hall, Uppermill on Saturday 11th November at 7.30pm.

Ian Brady’s body must be disposed of with ‘no music and no ceremony’

Moors Murderer Ian Brady’s body must be disposed of with “no music and no ceremony”, a judge at the High Court has ruled.

The decision was announced in London on Friday by the Chancellor of the High Court, Sir Geoffrey Vos. Brady, who used the name Ian Stewart-Brady, died aged 79 on May 15 this year but his remains have not yet been disposed of.
