Events in February for both the Saddleworth Historical Society and Saddleworth Civic Trust

Saddleworth Historical Society has an Illustrated Presentation entitled ‘Saddleworth’s Lost Servicemen of World War’ by Ivan Foster, historian.

This takes place on Wednesday 8 February at 7.30pm at the Saddleworth Museum, High Street, Uppermill. All are welcome but there is a charge of £3 for non-members on the night. Refreshments will be available.

Year-long mystery of man found dead at Dovestone is solved

CCTV of the dead man police have now identified.

Officers who have worked tirelessly around the clock for the past 13 months, were today able to name the man whose body was discovered at the Dovestone area of Saddleworth in December of 2015.

Carer charged after 97-year-old Uppermill woman defrauded

An Oldham carer has been charged after thousands of pounds were defrauded from an elderly woman.

Sarah Last, of Huddersfield Road, Waterhead, was charged with fraud by false representation and fraud by abuse of position.

She has been bailed to appear at Tameside Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 9 February 2017.

On 22 November 2016 police received a report that between March and September last year more than £20,000 was defrauded from a 97-year-old woman’s bank account in Uppermill.

Neighbourhood Plan to cover Saddleworth Parish granted
