Member of Uppermill Community Association (UCAN) recently recovered a huge amount of debris from the canal in Uppermill after they took advantage of the low water line during the current lock gate repairs.

A disabled man from Saddleworth has described the effect of having his social security payments stopped by the DWP for five months as being ‘like a death sentence’.

The boil water advice for drinking water in parts of Saddleworth remains in place this evening and will last for at least the next 48 hours say United Utilities.

Saddleworth News reported early this morning that an issue with mains water was affecting parts of Saddleworth, especially Greenfield, as well as Stalybridge, Ashton-under-Lyne, Hyde and Dukinfield.
