Roundhill Farm fire has started up again tonight

Firefighters are attending a fire at Roundhill Farm in Dobcross again tonight.

It is thought that yesterdays’s fire in an open barn has reignited due to strong winds.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) currently have one appliance at the scene.

A spokesperson from Roundhill Farm has told us there are no reports of any injuries.

Firefighters bring Saddleworth farm blaze under control

Firefighters at the farm fire this afternoon

Firefighters have been called to a fire at a Saddleworth farm this afternoon.

The fire is believed to have started at around 2.15pm and involved 100 bails of straw that had been stored in an open barn on Roundhill Farm, off Long Lane, in Dobcross.

Oldham Council officials are investigating a spate of illegal fly-tipping in various parts of Saddleworth over the last few weeks.

Firefighters have attended another grass fire in Saddleworth this afternoon.

The fire started on land just inside the old Ladcastle Quarry, off Ladcastle Road, in Uppermill at around 3.30pm.

The blaze was extinguished an hour later but firefighters remain on the scene damping down the area.

The large moorland fire above Dovestone Reservoir

Firefighters are tackling a large moorland blaze above Dovestone Reservoir in Greenfield tonight.

The fire is thought to have started at around 8pm on land near to an access road just above the reservoir.

The fire has been burning over an area of approximately three square miles, causing a large amount of smoke to drift towards Greenfield and Mossley.

World Premiere brings ancient story to a modern audience

This Spring, theatre maker Rose van Leyenhorst and co-director Chris Hill have teamed up to create THE ODDITY, a contemporary exploration of The Odyssey introducing ​Tilly​,​ a girl lost between ancient fiction and modern reality.

Oldham Council have agreed to reduce the height of some newly installed lamp posts in Dobcross after residents contacted Saddleworth News to say they were far too high and were causing them sleep problems.

Meeting date set to reconsider Saddleworth School planning applications

Oldham Council’s Planning Committee will meet to reconsider all four applications relating to the proposed new Saddleworth School this month.
