Police are trying to identify a man who was found dead near Dovestone Reservoir at Greenfield.

On Saturday 12 December 2015, the body of the man was found on the Chew track leading from Dovestones Reservoir boating lake to Indians Head.

Saddleworth Illuminations 2015 results

The judging of the Annual Saddleworth Illuminations competition took place on Wednesday 9th December 2015.

The panel of judges consisted of the Chairman of the Parish Council, Councillor Neil Allsopp, Oldham and Saddleworth Parish Councillor Nikki Kirkham and the Clerk to Saddleworth Parish Council, Pam Bailey.

A Saddleworth Parish Councillor has been found guilty at Minshull Street Crown Court in Manchester of downloading indecent images of young boys.

Paul Michael Buckley, 67, appeared in court charged with 17 counts of making or possessing indecent images of naked boys aged six to 17 years old.

Delph woman pushed over in own home by thieves posing as police officers

Four men broke into a house in Saddleworth and knocked a woman to the ground.

At around 2.30pm on Tuesday, the 63-year-old woman was watching tv in her home on Delph Lane, Delph, when the men opened the back door of her house.

Drop-in event for proposed highways scheme at new Saddleworth School

Oldham Council is holding a drop-in event where people can view the proposed highways scheme for the new Saddleworth School.

The event will take place at Kiln Green Church, Diggle, on Thursday, December 10.

Residents can call in at any time between 3pm and 7.30pm and officers will be on hand to explain the scheme and answer any questions.

The public will then get the opportunity to make any comments during the statutory 21-day planning consultation period.

Santa Dash through Uppermill for local charities

Over 100 paid up runners will be taking part in a Santa Dash along High Street, Uppermill on Saturday 5 December.

The event has been organised by Saddleworth Round Table as an extension to their Winter Wonderland event which takes place later the same day.

The Santa Dash is a 5km charity fun run through Uppermill village and Diggle.

A Floral Arts Event, entitled “Humbug Christmas” is to be held at St Chad’s Parish Centre, Station Road in Uppermill on Wednesday 9 December at 7.30pm.

Saddleworth residents asked to help with Mission Christmas

Greater Manchester Police is once again asking the people of Saddleworth to help them support the KEY 103 Mission Christmas Appeal.

Sadly there are still 1 in 3 children living in poverty, with Greater Manchester having the fourth highest levels of child poverty in the country.

Mission Christmas will not solve the poverty statistics, but will be a helping hand that ensures as many children as possible wake up with a present on Christmas day, no matter what their situation.
