Oldham Council cabinet members have formally approved the WH Shaw Pallet Works site in Diggle as the new home for Saddleworth School.

A Dobcross resident has been left shocked and angry after his car was badly damaged outside his home after being hit by a passing vehicle that failed to stop.

The man, who does not want to be named, lives on Dobcross New Road in the village. He told Saddleworth News he was “very upset and angry” at the damage caused.


Saddleworth Parish Councillor pleads ‘not guilty’ over child images allegations

Saddleworth Parish Councillor Michael Buckley will appear in crown court in April after pleading not guilty to making and possessing indecent images of children.

Cllr Buckley, 67, from Dobcross, appeared at Oldham Magistrates Court yesterday over the allegations.

Buckley was subject to an investigation last year and a warrant was executed on his home last March.

At 5.40pm yesterday, a grey VW Polo was in collision with two other vehicles near the car park on Standedge Cutting for the Pennine Way.

A burglar who stole a very rare Porsche and then raced at speeds in excess of 100mph on the motorway has been jailed.

Lewis Lowe broke into a house in Saddleworth and stole the high-powered car which he then used to speed down the motorway as he was pursued by police.
