A Saddleworth man has been jailed after he had sex with an underage girl.

Timothy Edwards, of Walk Mill, Dobcross, was found guilty of four counts of sexual activity with a child, five counts of making and possessing indecent photographs, and one count of attempting to incite sexual activity with a child, after a trial at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court.

Heavy snow storms or “thundersnow storms” as they have been called by the Met Office caused problems around some parts of Saddleworth today.

Saddleworth Women’s Institute hand cheque to Oldham Bereavement Support Service

Oldham Bereavement Support Service have been presented with a cheque for £2,000 by Saddleworth Women’s Institute.

The cheque was handed over at a presentation in January at the Saddleworth Hotel.

Contaminated drugs warning after Springhead teenager is taken to hospital

Police are warning about the dangers of taking contaminated drugs after a teenager collapsed in Saddleworth.

Just after 5am on Sunday 18 January 2015, officers were called to a house on Ivy Green Drive, Springhead, following reports an 18-year-old man had collapsed.

Officers attended and the teenager was taken to hospital.

Inquiries later established he had consumed MDMA while at a party at the house and as a result suffered a reaction that caused him to collapse and fit.

Oldham Council wants your views on proposed new developments levy

Oldham Council is seeking the views of residents on proposals to introduce a charge for new developments being built in the area.

If a Community Infrastructure Levy is introduced the money raised can be used to support local communities and neighbourhoods by funding improvements to transport links and creating open spaces, for example.

Man charged after Springhead house fire

Police investigating after a house in Saddleworth was broken into and set on fire have charged a man.
