A well-known village landmark has been completely demolished this morning after being hit by a van.
The stone memorial in Dobcross square was hit by the large van after it suffered a handbrake failure at around 8.45am.

The HGV stuck after turning into Delph Village

Traffic through Delph village was brought to a standstill this morning after a HGV became stuck outside the Bulls Head public house.

Fire-fighters attend to a trapped casualty in one of the cars
Emergency services are at the scene of a two car accident on the A672, Oldham Road, at Denshaw this afternoon.
The accident happened at approximately 3.15pm today on a bend near a lay-by. It is thought the bad weather may have played a part in the accident.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service attended to a small fire on High Street in uppermill at 12.15pm this afternoon.
The fire was confined to an electrical box outside the Java Cafe premises, the fire was quickly contained and made safe until electrical contractors arrived.

Incident - The NW Air Ambulance over Uppermill this morning
The North West Air Ambulance was called to Saddleworth School in Uppermill at 9.12am this morning to assist paramedics.
It responded along with a land ambulance and rapid response vehicle.
A spokesperson for the North West Ambulance Service said: “A minor was taken to The Royal Oldham Hospital by road ambulance and we have no further details of the injuries at the moment.”

Denshaw village switched on its Christmas lights last night with a good-sized crowd gathered on Huddersfield Road to watch the event.
The event was organised by Paula Parlsow and Denshaw Village Community Association, with support from the Rotary Club of Saddleworth and other local organisations.
