Nursery kids enjoyed recent fun day

A group of children from Saddleworth Stars Nursery enjoyed the recent ‘Dawson’s Field Fun Day’ at Scouthead.

They were taken on the outing as the ‘graduating’ class of 2014.

They were celebrating their graduation day before starting school in September.

The congregation of Friezland Parish Church, Greenfield, are trying to find out as much information as possible about the names on the Church’s Rolls of Honour from both the First and Second World Wars.

Saddleworth School campaigners have branded the recent Oldham Council announcement that extra funds will be made available to help site the new Saddleworth School in Diggle as a cynical attempt to pre-empt a decision by the Government’s Funding Agency (EFA) to build the school at Uppermill.

Council confirms new Saddleworth School site option

Diggle site new option plans

Oldham Council is proposing a new site option for consideration in the project to deliver the new Saddleworth School.

A report was approved at Cabinet tonight outlining a new proposal at Diggle.

This project is being managed by the Education Funding Agency (EFA) on behalf of the Department for Education.

Oldham Council must identify potential site options and negotiate any necessary legal agreements to enable the delivery of whichever site is chosen.

Fire service reassure residents over Uppermill road closures

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service are reassuring worried residents in Uppermill that road closures due to sewer improvement work will not stop fire appliances and other emergency vehicles reaching them if required.

United Utilities has today started work on phase four of a £1 million pound sewer improvement scheme along Church Road in the village. The work is expected to take around three weeks to complete.

Land Rover owners warned after another stolen

Police are warning owners of Land Rover Defenders in Saddleworth to be extra vigilant after another was stolen from Delph in the last few days.

There have been a number of incidents involving Land Rover Defenders in the area recently.

The Defender was stolen from the Stoneswood Road area of Delph between 14.00hrs on 14 July and 16.30 hrs on the 15 July.
