St Chad’s raise money for Oldham Mountain Rescue Team

Children from St Chad’s School.

Parents and children from St Chad’s school in Uppermill recently helped to raise money for Oldham Mountain Rescue Team.

They all completed the annual ‘Pots and Pans Challenge’ by walking from the school to the hilltop monument.

The sponsorship money will be donated to the Oldham Mountain Rescue team, who greeted the children as they arrived at the top of the hill.

Police continue to search Dovestones Reservoir

Searches continuing at Dovestones

Police are continuing to hunt for clues at Dovestones Reservoir after the discovery of a man’s body in February.

The North West Police Underwater Search and Marine Unit, have been at the reservoir for the last two weeks looking for anything that might be of significance to the investigation.

Craig Wilcox, was last seen on 6 January 2014 at the home of relatives on Norfolk Crescent in Failsworth.

Saddleworth Players round off their current season at the Millgate Arts Centre in Delph, with Bill Naughton’s well known Lancashire comedy “All In Good Time” opening on 31 May until 7 June (excluding Monday). School meals are top of the class

The Education Catering Team celebrates the award.

Oldham Council has been awarded a prestigious ‘Gold Food for Life Catering Mark’ thanks to the high quality meals being served in schools across the borough.

The Education Catering Team is only the third local authority in the country to achieve this honour – and the first in the North-West.

The award is the culmination of a five-year journey of improvement which has already seen the council earn bronze and silver awards.

A woman is in a serious condition after being stabbed at her house in Dobcross early this morning.

Shortly before 5am on Sunday 25 May 2014, police were called to Dobcross New Road, following reports a woman had been stabbed.

Officers attended and a 42 year old woman was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries to her back.

Today’s local election results in Oldham have seen victories for both Independent and UKIP candidates in the Saddleworth Wards.

Independent candidate Nikki Kirkham was elected by a clear majority for the Saddleworth North Ward. UKIP candidate Peter Klonowski won the Saddleworth West and Lees Ward, he was not in attendance as he was at work as his win was announced.

On Saturday, 21st June, Saddleworth Women’s Institute will be raising funds for Oldham Bereavement Support Service at an Off the Rails Comedy Evening, the Royal George, Greenfield.
