A Saddleworth based karate club is celebrating after one of its members took the heavyweight champions title in the 2014 IKKU National Karate Championships in Glasgow.
Sam Hughes, 22, from Diggle, who is a member of the Oldham Kyokushinkai Karate Club (BKK Oldham) based in Springhead, fought against three formidable opponents in last month’s event to take the men’s heavyweight title.

Three members of Delph band received lifetime achievement awards in March at the North West Area Contest at Blackpool’s Winter Gardens.
