Trees to be removed at Moorgate Quarry

Trees are overgrowing the heather at Moorgate Quarry and in order to enhance the habitat for moorland wildlife the trees need to be removed.

Saddleworth residents are advised to check on how changes in local bus services will affect them next week.

First Manchester have announced a number of service changes including the withdrawal of the 82 Uppermill/Manchester morning and evening services, timetable and minor route changes to the 350 Ashton/Oldham service, as well as other alterations to the 180 and 184 services serving Diggle, Uppermill and Greenfield and the X84 express service between Delph and Manchester.

People are invited to apply to be a member of the Peak District National Park Authority’s governing body for the next four years.

Saddleworth motorists warned to be vigilant after a number of thefts from vehicles

Police are warning Saddleworth motorists to be vigilant after a number of thefts from vehicles in the area.

Last night there were several thefts of car wing mirrors across Saddleworth, with power tools stolen from a vehicle on Stamford Road in Springhead the night before.

Also a large quantity of golfing equipment was stolen from a van on Shaw Hall Bank Road in Greenfield the other day.

Car crashes into wall in Uppermill

A driver had a lucky escape this evening as the car he was driving crashed into a wall on Station Road in Uppermill at around 7.30pm tonight.

We understand the elderly driver was trying to perform a u-turn and misjudged the road and ended up in the wall.
