Cruel thieves burgle deceased woman’s home in Grasscroft

Cruel thieves ransacked the house of a woman who died just a week earlier.

The burglars targeted a house on Oldham Road in Grasscroft, sometime between 5.30pm on 28th April and 5.30pm the following day.

The house was vacant at the time, as the owner died on 19th April 2012 following a short illness.

Three cars have been crushed by a huge tree that has toppled over in Uppermill.

A weather warning is in place for large parts of the UK including Saddleworth with strong winds and heavy rain. In the last hour heavy rain has been falling in the area with very strong winds, this has caused branches to fall and a tree has been toppled near the old Saddleworth Station. Missing Delph dog found in the last hour

Saddleworth News has just had it confirmed that Jasper the dog missing after the Delph burglary has been found safe and well.

The good news was given to the editor by Mrs Elaine Heap, Jasper’s owner.

She said he had been found by a couple out searching for him, he was found caught up in barbed wire, he is fine but still shaken up after his ordeal.

Jasper is missing from Delph after a burglary.

An urgent appeal has been made to Saddleworth residents to help find a dog missing after burglars ransacked a house in Delph.

Jasper fled from the scene of the burglary at 8 Ammons Way, Delph on Friday 27th April, he is described as kind and approachable, although he may be scared over what has happened.

Jubilee celebrations at St Mary’s Church in Greenfield

Debbie Abrahams meets with ‘Love Train’ prostate cancer walkers

Debbie Abrahams and her husband yesterday met with with a team who are raising money for a prostate cancer charity.

Nigel Lewis-Baker, has been diagnosed with terminal prostate cancer, which is untreatable, but has remained positive and is now raising money with the ‘Love Train’ a John O’Groats to Land’s End walk for prostate cancer research. He is walking with Alan Carr, MBE and Charlie Carr.

Saddleworth shopper shocked to find caterpillar in her food

A Saddleworth resident has told Saddleworth News how she was shocked to find a caterpillar inside a food product purchased from a local retailer.

Stacey Clarke, from Uppermill, says she noticed the caterpillar as she was about to tuck into a small tub of fresh raspberries she bought from the Tesco store at Greenfield.
