Road users in Saddleworth should be extra vigilant after vandals have tampered with roadside drain covers in Dobcross.

Canal passenger boats taken away for winter maintenance

Two passenger boats from the Marsden Visitors Centre in Marsden, were recently taken through the Standedge canal tunnel and along the Huddersfield Narrow Canal to Wool Road in Dobcross, in order for them to be lifted out of the water for repairs.

A Saddleworth cycling group have organised a ‘Saddleworth Circuit’ ride next week.

Mother says daughter is ‘very lucky’ after riding accident

A local mother says her daughter is very lucky not to have been seriously injured after falling from her horse in Dobcross this morning.

The North West Air Ambulance was called to assist paramedics at the scene of the incident, near to Saddleworth Viaduct, at around 9.45am after the girl’s horse was frightened by a passing lorry.

A Saddleworth construction company are appealing for information to help them find the original purpose of building they are currently renovating.

Drivers lucky escape as wagon hits trees

A wagon driver has had a lucky escape after his vehicle left the road and skidded into trees near Saddleworth Viaduct.

The accident happened at lunchtime today as the wagon which was heading towards Uppermill from Diggle skidded into the grass verge just before the mini roundabout.

There has been a road traffic accident this morning at the junction of Sugar Lane and Wool Road, Dobcross.

We have no further information yet and do not know about any injuries or the circumstances surrounding the crash.
