The Greater Manchester Fringe Festival comes to Saddleworth for the first time

KES: More than £930 raised for the Pc Nicola Hughes Fund

The charity film showing of KES by Saddleworth News just over a week ago has raised £931.07 for the Pc Nicola Hughes fund.

The cheque was presented to Nicola’s Father Bryn Hughes and his wife Natalie, along with fellow marathon participant and friend Rob Stapleton. Nicola’s brother Sam was also present at the hand over of the cheque.

David Bradley gives emotional talk at KES screening

Film fans packed the theatre room above The Swan in Dobcross last night to welcome actor David Bradley from the iconic film KES.

The Dobcross Concert

The third annual ‘Dobcross Concert’ takes place on Saturday 26th October at Holy Trinity Church in the village, it starts at 7.30pm with organisers in the local community expecting another large turnout.

Appearing this year are the popular folk group ‘The Oldham Tinkers’ and the recently re-formed ‘The James Shepherd Versatile Brass’ brass group.

David Bradley to appear at KES film screening in Saddleworth

Saddleworth News has arranged a special screening of the iconic film KES at The Swan public house in Dobcross.

David Bradley, who plays the young boy ‘Billy Casper’ in the film, will be making a special guest appearance at the event. The event will see all proceeds from the ticket sales going to The PC Nicola Hughes North Pole Marathon Charity.

The Swan in Dobcross will be holding a fundraising coffee morning as part of Macmillan cancer charity’s “world’s biggest coffee morning”.

Lorna Hill’s fundraising coffee morning as part of Macmillan cancer charity’s “world’s biggest coffee morning” will be held this Saturday (28th Sept) from 10am until noon.

Admission is £2 (includes tea/coffee and a scone).
