Blank shots fired in Oldham

Detectives are investigating after blank shots were fired in Oldham.

Shortly after 11.50pm on Monday 16 October 2017 a man was seen with a gun on Waltham Street in Alexandra.

He fired the gun a number of times – but it was not aimed at anyone – before walking away in the direction of Roundthorn Road.

Officers attended and recovered blank cartridges which suggest no bullets were fired.

Jail for four after hiding drugs in dog food and washing powder

Four men have been jailed after concealing £275,000 worth of drugs in boxes of dog treats and washing powder. Today (Monday 4 September 2017) four men were sentenced to a collective 48 years in prison at Manchester Crown Court for conspiracy to supply cocaine and heroin. Jail for Setting Up Fake Companies

A man who set up five fake companies to illegally gain over £175,000 has been jailed. James Simpson Taylor (4/3/60) of Ivy Green Drive, Oldham, pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing, to conspiracy to commit fraud by false representation, five counts of fraudulent trading, and making an article for use in fraud.

Marouf Ahmed has been sworn in as the Youth Mayor of Oldham.
