Delph And Dobcross Into T20 Quarter-Finals In Style

Delph and Dobcross reached the quarter-finals of the Twenty20 Cup this week, after some epic hitting in a comprehensive victory over Micklehurst.

More Pictures Of Mossley Moorland Fire

Here are some more images of Tuesday evening’s moorland fire, which broke out near Micklehurst Cricket Club on Buckton Moor above Mossley. It’s thought the blaze was started deliberately.

The fire sent smoke across Mossley, Greenfield and further afield. It was put out by the fire brigade, with help from Diggle-based Pennine Helicopters, in a little over an hour.

Moorland Fire Above Mossley

A wildfire broke out on Buckton Moor above Mossley on Tuesday evening. It began near Micklehurst Cricket Club off Huddersfield Road shortly before 7:30pm, but was extinguished in little over an hour.

A chopper from Diggle-based Pennine Helicopters joined four fire engines, from Mossley, Stalybridge and Hyde, at the scene. A spokeswoman for the fire brigade described the blaze as a “large grass fire” and smoke from it spread across Greenfield.

Delph And Dobcross Into T20 Quarter-Finals

Delph and Dobcross guaranteed a place in the quarter-finals of the Huddersfield League T20 competition last night, with a comfortable victory over Micklehurst at Huddersfield Road. The result meant D&D finished the group stage with four wins out of four, to top their pool.

D&D batted first and made an impressive 245/5 from their 20 overs. Arron Lilley scored his first century for the club with 103, an innings which included13 fours and six sixes.

A Walk Along The Micklehurst Loop

A former Saddleworth resident has returned to the area to take a walk along the disused Stalybridge to Diggle railway line.
