Jazzing up their daily commute…

Reporter : Judith Grinter Unsuspecting commuters were treated to two early-morning jazz gigs at Huddersfield railway station this morning.

The Jeremy Platt Trio will perform at the station using a piano which has been donated to the station for passengers to play while they wait for their trains.

Marsden to go car free for jazz festival

Marsden’s high street will close to traffic during this weekend’s jazz festival to allow performances to take place on three outdoor stages.

Over 130 hours of live music is taking place in the Pennine village this weekend at 26 venues, including over 70 free events.

A kazoo chorus is coming to Marsden

Marsden will soon be buzzing with the sound of kazoos with four kazoo workshops taking place in the village over the next two weekends.

Village Charm for International Jazz Artists

Every year, throughout the second weekend in October, the sleepy Pennine village of Marsden plays host to around 8,000 jazz fans, who enjoy a varied programme of music and other events.

Marsden Jazz Festival This Weekend

One of the highlights of the local cultural calendar takes place this weekend. It’s the Marsden Jazz Festival, which is marking its 20th year.

More than 70 events will take place in and around the village across Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with 7,000 visitors expected to see something of the festival. Gigs are scheduled for venues large and small, ranging from the Mechanics Institute to street performances.
