Popular TV presenter and journalist, John Stapleton, has told Saddleworth News he hopes “funding can be found” to restore a clock on one of Saddleworth’s most iconic buildings.

The clock, on the front of the Civic Hall in Uppermill, was recently repaired but the clock face itself and the surrounding structure couldn’t be refurbished due to a lack of budget.

Saddleworth couples needed for Channel 4 series

Channel 4 are looking for couples to take part in the popular ‘Come Dine With Me’ TV series.

Saddleworth News was contacted by ITV to help find local couples willing to take part in the show.

Three Couples will each host a dinner party over three nights. They each score each other over the three nights and the couple with the best score on the final night wins £1000!

A Saddleworth News reader is counting down the days to his first appearance on a well known television quiz show.

Jordan Baker, 19, who lives in Mossley, recorded his first session on the popular television show Countdown last week. The show involves word and number puzzles and is recorded at the ITV studios in Media City, Salford.

Television presenter returns to his Saddleworth roots

TV presenter and broadcaster John Stapleton returned to Saddleworth recently to take part in a television programme about his life.

John, 67, was born in Oldham and was a pupil at Diggle Junior school, he currently presents on ITV’s ‘Daybreak’ show and the homecoming feature for the BBC’s ‘The One Show’ was broadcast a few weeks ago.

Delph Baker Makes National TV Appearance

A Delph woman appeared on ITV1’s This Morning recently, as she reached the latter stages of its national baking competition. Sophie Finnigan appeared on the programme earlier this month, after she was recorded in both Manchester and London in August.
