Carer charged after 97-year-old Uppermill woman defrauded

An Oldham carer has been charged after thousands of pounds were defrauded from an elderly woman.

Sarah Last, of Huddersfield Road, Waterhead, was charged with fraud by false representation and fraud by abuse of position.

She has been bailed to appear at Tameside Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 9 February 2017.

On 22 November 2016 police received a report that between March and September last year more than £20,000 was defrauded from a 97-year-old woman’s bank account in Uppermill.

Police are investigating a series of indecent exposures in Saddleworth.

Officers were first called to Mossley Road in Grasscroft at 2.55pm on 12 July 2015 following reports a man had been seen performing a sex act upon himself in a car.

Denshaw village switched on its Christmas lights last night with a good-sized crowd gathered on Huddersfield Road to watch the event.

The event was organised by Paula Parlsow and Denshaw Village Community Association, with support from the Rotary Club of Saddleworth and other local organisations.

A small brass band accompanied carol singers with a number of items such as mulled-wine on sale.

Two people have been seriously injured following a car crash in Delph today.

Two vehicles collided on the A62, Huddersfield Road, near to the junction with Delph Lane at around 4.30pm this afternoon.

Two vehicles crash at Scouthead tonight

Two vehicles have been involved in a collision on the A62, Huddersfield Road at Scouthead tonight.

The accident happened at around 8.15pm resulting in the closure of the road for almost an hour. Emergency services attended the incident and it is not known at this stage if there are any injuries.

Police are still at the scene and we understand the road is now open again. Enquiries into the accident are continuing.
