Delph And Dobcross Avenge Shepley Defeat

Delph and Dobcross quickly got over their recent defeat to Shepley, by beating the same opponents in Saturday’s Huddersfield League match.

Shepley, at home, won the toss and chose to bat, and suffered an extraordinary to collapse to 86 all out, having been 27/6 at one stage. Delph and Dobcross professional Bilal Khiljee did the damage, with memorable figures of 8/40.

Delph And Dobcross Extend Huddersfield League Lead

Delph and Dobcross have opened up a four point lead at the top of cricket’s Huddersfield League. They beat Shelley on Saturday, while second-placed Kirkburton’s game with Marsden was rained off.

In a match reduced to 40 overs per side, Shelley made 199/4 from their allocation, with Sam Scott hitting 82.

Holmfirth Arts Festival Begins This Weekend

As our own Saddleworth Festival of the Arts comes to an end this weekend, the two-week Holmfirth Arts Festival begins.

Highlights of the programme include a performance by comedian Josie Long at the Southgate Theatre in Honley next Thursday, and a musical appearance by legendary Barnsley poet Ian McMillan along with his band at the Picturedrome on Saturday 25 June.
