Oldham Council has carried out improvements on a junction at Grains Bar.

The work, which cost £20,000, has seen a traffic island and high visibility bollards put in place.

Bend warning signs and enhanced hazard markings and red surfacing have also been installed.

Closure On Stoneswood Road In Delph Today

Denshaw Road is closed near Delph School.

Another road closure takes effect in Delph today, albeit for one day only.

A 150m section of Stoneswood Road will close as part of work to repair retaining walls. According to paperwork circulated by Oldham Council and its Unity Partnership, drivers will be diverted around Oldham Road, The Sound and Millgate instead.

Denshaw Road In Delph To Reopen Tomorrow

This will be gone tomorrow.

Denshaw Road in Delph is going to be open again from sometime tomorrow, well ahead of schedule.

Work by United Utilities has been taking place over the past week to upgrade the sewer system to guard against future flooding.

The initial phase had been due to last until 2 May, but the recent good weather has been among the factors which have helped engineers work more quickly.

Huddersfield Road in Diggle and Oldham Road in Grasscroft and Lydgate will be the first roads in Saddleworth to benefit from Oldham Council’s efforts to improve the quality of our highways.

The owner of the Vamasaki restaurant at Grains Bar has been fined for failing to comply with planning regulations. It’s the second time in less than a year that Jewel Miah has been successfully prosecuted by Oldham Council.

Six Skips In Place To Help Bin Collections

Oldham Council has left six skips around Saddleworth, so people who live in outlying areas can deposit their rubbish to be picked up. The skips were delivered to various locations yesterday morning.

Missing Dog Found Safe

There was a happy ending to the story of Oscar the missing poodle which Saddleworth News featured last week. He was found safe and well near Grains Bar on Friday night.

Oscar had managed to escape from kennels in Rochdale last Tuesday. It was thought he was trying to make his way home to Greenfield, where his owners live.

Escaped Poodle Spotted Near Grains Bar

There’s an update in the search for escaped poodle Oscar. He’s been seen tonight near Grains Bar, close to the Black Ladd pub on Buckstones Road.

Oscar managed to escape from kennels in Rochdale on Tuesday, and it’s thought he’s been trying to make his way home to Greenfield. His owners live in the village, but put him in the kennels while they went on holiday.

Grains Road Reopens To Traffic

Grains Road between Delph and Grains Bar is open to traffic once again. It’s been shut for four weeks because work to repair a retaining wall was more complicated than engineers had anticipated.

According to a statement from Oldham Council, the closure was to allow temporary supports to be put in, allowing workers to remove a section of the existing wall safetly.
