Delph and Dobcross have maintained their position at the top of cricket’s Huddersfield League, thanks to a narrow win over Golcar in a low-scoring match on Saturday.

Delph and Dobcross quickly got over their recent defeat to Shepley, by beating the same opponents in Saturday’s Huddersfield League match.

Shepley Setback For Delph And Dobcross

Huddersfield League leaders Delph and Dobcross went down to a narrow defeat away to Shepley on Saturday.

After being put into bat on a damp wicket, D&D struggled to 185/7 from their 50 overs, with Faisal Butt the mainstay of the innings scoring 93.

Delph and Dobcross have opened up a four point lead at the top of cricket’s Huddersfield League. They beat Shelley on Saturday, while second-placed Kirkburton’s game with Marsden was rained off.

In a match reduced to 40 overs per side, Shelley made 199/4 from their allocation, with Sam Scott hitting 82.

Delph and Dobcross are out of cricket’s Sykes Cup, after losing their quarter-final away to Golcar on Sunday.

Delph And Dobcross Win Golcar Double Header

Delph and Dobcross beat Golcar twice over the weekend, once in the Huddersfield League, and once in the Second Round of the Heavy Woollen Cup.

On Saturday it was league business at Huddersfield Road, in a match shortened to 35 overs per side because of the weather.

Delph And Dobcross Denied In Final

Delph and Dobcross suffered an agonising defeat to Skelmanthorpe in yesterday’s Sykes Cup final at Honley. They were beaten off the second-last ball, as Skelmanthorpe completed an eight-wicket win.

D&D were put in to bat but managed to post a strong 239/6 from their 50 overs. Professional Bilal Khiljee top scored with 89, while Matt Norvall smacked an unbeaten 48, including three sixes, to help D&D recover from 133/5. Craig Glover took two wickets for Skelmanthorpe.

Double Victory For Delph And Dobcross

Delph and Dobcross took maximum points from two Huddersfield League matches over the weekend. They beat Slaithwaite on Saturday and Golcar yesterday to continue their improved form.

On Saturday, D&D batted first and scored an imposing 295/4 from their 50 overs, with Irfan Zahoor and Bilal Khiljee making 82 apiece. Slaithwaite were dismissed for 194 in the 49th over, giving D&D a 101-run victory. Matt Norvall was the pick of the bowlers, taking 4/41. You can view the scorecard here.
