Saddleworth School plans ruled unlawful by High Court

Oldham Council will now have to rethink their plans to build a new Saddleworth School in Diggle after a High Court ruled they were unlawful.

The school case was taken to the Royal Courts of Justice in London by the Save Diggle Action Group (SDAG) after a long fought campaign and financial backing from various sympathetic donors.

A couple of years ago Liberal Democrats Garth Harkness, Derek Heffernan and Alan Roughley launched a campaign to get a defibrillator in every village.

Dobcross residents invited to public meeting over village traffic issues

All Dobcross residents are invited to a public meeting in the village Band Club on Tuesday, July 28 at 7.30pm.

The meeting, has been organised by Dobcross Village Community executive committee, to discuss increased traffic through the village. Residents can attend and air their views on safety, speed, and how to discouraging traffic from using the village roads as a ‘rat run’.

Two Liberal Democrat Councillors have pledged to fund a World War One exhibition at a Dobcross Church.

Holy Trinity Church are staging ‘Lest we forget’ on Saturday 13 September at 7:30pm to commemorate the 100th anniversary of World War One.

The church are also aiming to stage an exhibition of World War One memorabilia during the weekend as well.

Campaign to Save Dobcross Post Office

You may have thought that the problems of the Post Office and Royal Mail had been solved, following the closure of small sub post offices round the country and better relations between the postman’s union and the new Royal Mail management.

Apparently not, as Royal Mail is trying to cut it’s costs still further. Royal Mail, now a commercial company pays Post Office Ltd to pay sub postmasters to provide premises for local sorting offices and supervise their operation.
