Firefighters have attended another grass fire in Saddleworth this afternoon.

The fire started on land just inside the old Ladcastle Quarry, off Ladcastle Road, in Uppermill at around 3.30pm.

The blaze was extinguished an hour later but firefighters remain on the scene damping down the area.

Firefighters are tackling a large moorland blaze above Dovestone Reservoir in Greenfield tonight.

The fire is thought to have started at around 8pm on land near to an access road just above the reservoir.

The fire has been burning over an area of approximately three square miles, causing a large amount of smoke to drift towards Greenfield and Mossley.

Police trying to identify a man who was found dead near Dovestone Reservoir at Greenfield have released CCTV images of the man at a London Tube station.

On Saturday 12 December 2015, the body of the man was found on the Chew track leading from Dovestones Resevoir boating lake to Indians Head.

SkyRide local run by British Cycling have an easy ride coming up this Sunday at 10am around Dovestones Reservoir.

It takes in all three reservoirs, is only 6 miles, is open to anybody of all abilities and is a nice easy paced ride. These are organised rides and this is the first time this area has been included on the schedule for SkyRide local.

A sponsored walk will take place on Sunday 26th May 2013 to raise money for the SMA Trust in memory of a little girl who died of an incurable genetic disease.
