Councillor Garth Harkness attended the North West Ambulance Cardiac Smart award on Friday 23 June 2017 in Leyland.

Defibrillator training and lifesaving skills event in Delph

A couple of years ago Liberal Democrats Garth Harkness, Derek Heffernan and Alan Roughley launched a campaign to get a defibrillator in every village.

Following on from this there will now be a defibrillator and lifesaving training course taking place on Wednesday 7 December 2016 at 6.30pm at Delph Methodist Church with all members of the public welcome.

Dobcross residents invited to public meeting over village traffic issues

All Dobcross residents are invited to a public meeting in the village Band Club on Tuesday, July 28 at 7.30pm.

The meeting, has been organised by Dobcross Village Community executive committee, to discuss increased traffic through the village. Residents can attend and air their views on safety, speed, and how to discouraging traffic from using the village roads as a ‘rat run’.

Two Liberal Democrat Councillors have pledged to fund a World War One exhibition at a Dobcross Church.

Holy Trinity Church are staging ‘Lest we forget’ on Saturday 13 September at 7:30pm to commemorate the 100th anniversary of World War One.

The church are also aiming to stage an exhibition of World War One memorabilia during the weekend as well.

Parish Council Agrees Committee Line-Ups

After weeks of behind-the-scenes toing and froing, harmony broke out on Saddleworth Parish Council last night, as the make-up of its assorted sub-committees was agreed.

Outgoing Parish Chairman Reveals Fundraising Total

Keith Begley, who stood down as Chairman of Saddleworth Parish Council this week, has announced that £18,525 was raised for good causes during his year in office.

He revealed the figure after handing over the chains of office to Cllr Bill Cullen at Uppermill Civic Hall on Monday night. Mr Begley, who lives in Delph, was also bidding farewell to life as a parish councillor, having chosen not to stand in the election earlier this month.

Independent Ken Hulme was elected as the new Vice Chairman of Saddleworth Parish Council on Monday night.
