Photographers of all ages and abilities are invited to enter their photographs of Saddleworth into the Saddleworth News Photography Awards 2017 which start today.

The awards are a Saddleworth News Community Project in partnership with the Saddleworth Photography Group, which has been operational for over two years and has over 220 members.

Winning approach to customer service puts local business in front at trade body awards

A fourth-generation Oldham property company took centre stage at a trade body awards ceremony.

Olympic Construction secured the ‘Outstanding Customer Service’ award at the Property Care Associations Best Practice Awards this month.

A framed certificate, along with a tablet device and bottle of champagne were presented to the company’s Managing Director, Adrian Dawson. The category was sponsored by Aquobex.


Award scheme launched to recognise local community helpers

A unique award scheme which will recognise villagers who go the extra mile for neighbours or their community has been launched across Saddleworth.

The Above and Beyond Awards will celebrate men, women and children nominated by village community, resident associations and groups.

And in a bid to encourage nominations villagers are being urged to contact their own community’s committee.

All ten village committees have backed the novel award scheme which is the brainchild of journalist Ken Bennett.
