The M62 near Saddleworth has now fully reopened following this morning’s serious collision between Oldham and Rochdale.

Both carriageways of the motorway between junction 20 and Oldham and junction 21 at Milnrow were closed at around 9.35am earlier today after police received a number of reports of a collision just before junction 21 of the M62.

Five people have been injured after two cars collided on the A635, Holmfirth Road, at Greenfield this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the accident at around 5.30pm, after reports of a head-on crash involving two vehicles.

Three people have lucky escape as car overturns in Greenfield

Police were called to Well-I-Hole Road in Greenfield at around 8.30am yesterday morning after receiving reports of an overturned vehicle.

It is believed a tractor may have clipped a grey Vauxhall Corsa causing it to overturn onto its roof blocking the road.

The three occupants of the vehicle are all thought to have escaped without injury.

Traffic around Greenfield Station was brought to a standstill yesterday morning when an HGV delivering to a local company attempted to turn down past the station and caught the rear end of its trailer on the wall of the road bridge.

Man remains in critical condition after Denshaw crash

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was left with life threatening head injuries after a traffic collision in Saddleworth.

Shortly before 2.40am yesterday, a 24-year-old man was driving a white BMW along Ripponden Road in Denshaw towards the M62 motorway, when he came up to a left hand bend and lost control of the car.

Police are continuing to appeal for information after a man was seriously injured in a collision in Saddleworth.

At 5.40pm on Saturday 7 March 2015, a grey VW Polo was in collision with two other vehicles near the car park on Standedge Cutting for the Pennine Way.

A Dobcross resident has been left shocked and angry after his car was badly damaged outside his home after being hit by a passing vehicle that failed to stop.

The man, who does not want to be named, lives on Dobcross New Road in the village. He told Saddleworth News he was “very upset and angry” at the damage caused.

Two vehicles collided on the A62, Huddersfield Road, near to the junction with Delph Lane at around 4.30pm this afternoon.

A local mother says her daughter is very lucky not to have been seriously injured after falling from her horse in Dobcross this morning.

The North West Air Ambulance was called to assist paramedics at the scene of the incident, near to Saddleworth Viaduct, at around 9.45am after the girl’s horse was frightened by a passing lorry.

Two vehicles crash at Scouthead tonight

Two vehicles have been involved in a collision on the A62, Huddersfield Road at Scouthead tonight.

The accident happened at around 8.15pm resulting in the closure of the road for almost an hour. Emergency services attended the incident and it is not known at this stage if there are any injuries.

Police are still at the scene and we understand the road is now open again. Enquiries into the accident are continuing.


Motorcyclist badly injured after Diggle crash

A motorcyclist was badly injured after an accident on Standedge Road in Diggle last night.

The accident happened at around 8pm after the rider of the Honda CBR was in collision with an A class Mercedes.

He was taken to hospital suffering from a broken leg and ribs, he also sustained a neck injury.

The road was closed for a while and was reopened at 11pm.
