A man has been seriously injured in a collision in Saddleworth.

Two people have been seriously injured following a car crash in Delph today.

Two vehicles collided on the A62, Huddersfield Road, near to the junction with Delph Lane at around 4.30pm this afternoon.

Two vehicles crash at Scouthead tonight

Two vehicles have been involved in a collision on the A62, Huddersfield Road at Scouthead tonight.

The accident happened at around 8.15pm resulting in the closure of the road for almost an hour. Emergency services attended the incident and it is not known at this stage if there are any injuries.

Police are still at the scene and we understand the road is now open again. Enquiries into the accident are continuing.

The heavy rain is still causing flooding problems at the top of the A62, Standedge Road, Diggle, towards Marsden this afternoon.

Saddleworth News recently met with Councillor Garth Harkness near to Brun Clough Reservoir in Diggle to investigate one of the major causes of flooding along the A62 Huddersfield Road.

During torrential rain the water from Marsden Moor flows down onto the Huddersfield Road near to the Diggle and Marsden border. This has led to surface water on the road forming a small river running down towards Delph and Dobcross.

A major contributing factor for the large volumes of flood water that flow down the roads into Delph and Diggle during storms is a blocked culvert near to Brun clough reservoir at Diggle.

The rainwater always flowed from the moors naturally into this culvert, but in recent years it has become blocked and overgrown with subsidence blocking large sections of it.

Snow Causes Problems On Saddleworth Roads

The Huddersfield Narrow Canal on Saturday.

Snow on Saturday afternoon and evening led to problems on roads in and around Saddleworth, with drivers warned not to travel unless necessary.

At least 10cm of snow fell. Drivers faced long delays on the M62 over the tops because of blizzard conditions, with westbound traffic moving very slowly for several hours after a breakdown blocked two lanes near J22.

Two people were injured in Thursday afternoon’s crash on the A62 Huddersfield Road above Diggle.

The smash happened not far from the old Floating Light pub, just before 5pm.

According to a spokesman for Greater Manchester Police, the two vehicles involved were an Audi and a BMW.

Crash Closes A62 Huddersfield Road Above Diggle

At least two vehicles were involved in a crash on the A62 Huddersfield Road on Thursday afternoon.

The incident happened shortly before 5pm, not too far from the old Floating Light pub above Diggle.
