Jack hoping to pile on the pounds for charity

Eleven-year-old Jack Ireland will be pedalling for pounds when he rides his bike all the way from his home in Denshaw to Blackpool.

The Delph School pupil is taking on the challenge to raise money for his two favourite charities – the MS Society and Francis House Children’s Hospice.

The route he will be taking is nearly 60 miles, across Lancashire and finishing at Blackpool Tower.

Developments In Churchill Fields Saga

Uppermill Veterans Draw With 3D Dynamos

Some of our more mature local football stars have been in action recently. Uppermill’s over 35s shared four goals in a hard-fought game with their counterparts from 3D Dynamos at Churchill Fields.

Uppermill took the lead twice, with both goals scored by Chris Squibbs. But they were pegged back each time, first through a Mike Jackson penalty, and then thanks to a late equaliser from Kevin Green.
