The exhibition is always a popular show, especially in the run up to Christmas. It will be comprised of around fifty works, with styles ranging from photo realism to expressionistic.
The group, founded in 1950 by water colourist Ellis Shaw and friends, is currently comprised of approximately sixty enthusiastic members. Some are full time professionals but all are seriously committed to their work. The SGA is a dynamic organisation, full of ideas to encourage interest and bring art to the public view. The group welcomes applications for membership and offers of new exhibition spaces.
Jane Braithwaite, Publicity Officer of the Group, told Saddleworth News: “I’ve been involved with the Saddleworth Group of Artists for a number of years now, initially as a member, keen to exhibit my work and get to know other artists in the area.
“We are a friendly, locally based group and can boast a number of very accomplished artists.
“Our current exhibition is, as always, impressive. The Museum exhibition area walls are full, with over seventy works in a variety of media and subject matter. The works are of high quality and are reasonably priced so why not take a look in this run up to Christmas? You might just find the special gift that you’re looking for.”
