Popular Oldham nearly-new sale will be celebrating its first birthday this month with an anniversary sale at Oldham Academy North. The sale, taking place on the 19 November at 1-3pm, will mark 12 months since local mum and childminder, Kelly Dronsfield bought the Oldham franchise of the award-winning company, Mum2mum Market. Since then these monthly markets have been providing local families with the opportunity to pick up high-quality top-branded items at a fraction of their retail price.
Each sale hosts 25 stalls of preloved bargains for babies and children aged 0-6 years. The stalls are manned by local mums, dads, aunties and uncles who recycle on their children’s outgrown clothes, toys, books and equipment to other families and they keep 100% off the profits. There are also business opportunities for those wanting to promote their classes, products or services to local mums and dads.
Event organiser, Kelly Dronsfield told Saddleworth News: “I am thrilled with how successful the last 12 months have been not just for me but for the hundreds of local families who benefit from these events. I am a firm believer that you can buy excellent quality, second-hand items for your children without such
a ridiculous price tag. We are now at a point where the sales are selling out for stall holders, two sales in advance, with more and more people wanting to make some money back on their unwanted things.”
Kelly added “This November sale sold out in record time. The lead up to Christmas is a great time to declutter but also to make your Christmas budget stretch that bit further.”
As well as thousands of bargains to be had, the November sale will also be attended by repeat stallholder and local photographer, Jude Gidney who will be offering buyers the chance to pre-book a mini Christmas photography shoot; to create the ideal festive gift or memento for loved ones. The shoots will be £12 for a 15 minute shoot which includes a free 9 x 6” print.
The sale will also be attended by repeat stallholders Little Crafty Caterpillar-Hair with their gorgeous hair accessories, Tuition company My Own Tutor-Bolton who will be offering a free trial of their learning programme and Traybakes and Treat will be providing much-needed refreshments.
Mum2mum Market sales are also attended by staff from The Children’s Society staff from the shop in Shaw. The ladies ask stall holders to kindly donate anything that isn’t sold to the Charity for it to be sold in the shop. The charity has been amazed with people’s generosity thus far and are very much looking forward to the November sale.
Since the April sale, the markets have also been collecting money for local Charity, Spoons. Spoons is a local charity that supports families experiencing neonatal care at Royal Oldham and North Manchester hospitals. The charity is run by a group of parents who have all had babies in neonatal care in the Greater Manchester area. The aim of the charity is to provide emotional support to parents throughout their neonatal journey, both in the hospital and the wider community. They work towards improving facilities on the unit for the babies and their families.
Spoons founder, Kirsten Mitchell says “We are absolutely over the moon that Kelly has chosen to support Spoons, her fundraising means we are able to reach more families experiencing neonatal intensive care and work towards making time on the unit that little bit easier”
The next Market on the 19 November will be the last of 2017 before the Oldham franchise takes a Christmas Break. The first sale of the New Year will be on Sunday 28 January at Oldham Academy North, 1-3pm.
