Although Uppermill was the focus of the Yanks Are Back In Saddleworth festival last weekend, the village of Dobcross had its share of the fun too. After all, it was the filming of the movie Yanks in the village back in 1978 that inspired the event, which was celebrating its own 10th anniversary.
Here are some pictures taken in Dobcross Square on Sunday afternoon, as a good crowd was entertained with some wartime music outside The Swan. More contemporary musicians were represented in the audience, with Saddleworth residents Mike Sweeney and Graham Lambert there, along with Graham’s Inspiral Carpets bandmate Clint Boon, all enjoying the day. All we needed was a drummer and we could have had an all-star line-up!
