The next Saddleworth Homewatch meeting takes place at 7:45pm on 20 July at the Conservative Club in Uppermill, and the guest speaker will be Keith Unwin of Yale Security. All local residents are welcome to attend!

In her document, Julie notes: “It has been brought to my attention that the number of people attending meetings has diminished. The Homewatch scheme needs people to attend these meetings otherwise they will just stop being held. Homewatch is beneficial and helps you and the police to work together as a community.”

Meanwhile, in some recent incidents reported by our local police team, two people were arrested in Newhey following a burglary in Diggle a week last Friday night. Police praised vigilant residents, who spotted two suspects acting suspiciously in the area.

An alert resident was also credited with helping officers detain two suspects in Grotton following lead thefts.

You can get up-to-date information from the Saddleworth and Lees police team at their website here, or from their Twitter feed here. You can ring them directly by calling the Uppermill office number 0161 856 4525. The best number to use for out-of-hours calls in 0161 872 5050, but in an emergency, always dial 999.
