Denshaw village switched on its Christmas lights last night with a good-sized crowd gathered on Huddersfield Road to watch the event.
The event was organised by Paula Parlsow and Denshaw Village Community Association, with support from the Rotary Club of Saddleworth and other local organisations.
A small brass band accompanied carol singers with a number of items such as mulled-wine on sale.
The tree itself is sited on the junction with Delph Road, with other lights sited elsewhere. It is the first year for the event, but it is intended to make it annual event, building on this start.
