Community cinema in Mossley one step closer thanks to amazing eBay find

Regular cinema screenings in Mossley are one step closer as new community arts centre The Vale takes delivery of some theatre-style seating.

The 60 red velvet seats have recently been removed from The Muni theatre in Colne, as part of a £56,000 refurbishment project.

Eagle-eyed Leon Patel, one of the partners in The Vale social enterprise, spotted the redundant chairs on eBay and made contact with the Pendle valley theatre.

Oldham Council is bringing an exciting array of theatre, literature and comedy this autumn for its latest Live@thelibrary programme.

More than 20 performances are taking place throughout September, October and November, at various venues around the borough – with the majority taking place in Oldham Library’s newly-refurbished performance space.

Festive Treat As Pinocchio Show Comes To Uppermill

This Christmas, Saddleworth youngsters will get the opportunity to see the classic story of Pinocchio performed at the Civic Hall in Uppermill.

The production has been put together by the Oldham Children’s Theatre, and it’s the fourth year in a row that the group has put on a Christmas show at the Civic. The show is particularly aimed at the under 9s, which sets it apart from other festive theatre shows.


Marsden Jazz Festival This Weekend

One of the highlights of the local cultural calendar takes place this weekend. It’s the Marsden Jazz Festival, which is marking its 20th year.

More than 70 events will take place in and around the village across Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with 7,000 visitors expected to see something of the festival. Gigs are scheduled for venues large and small, ranging from the Mechanics Institute to street performances.

Saddleworth Players To Re-Stage Play Cancelled By Power Cut

The Saddleworth Players will put on another performance of RolePlay this Friday night, after last Friday’s show was cancelled because of a power failure in Delph.

The outage affected the Millgate Arts Centre and some nearby properties for most of the day, and ultimately wasn’t restored until almost 10pm, meaning the performance had to be called off.

Inspiral Carpets Warm Up For Reunion In Saddleworth

Tickets On Sale For Children’s Halloween Show

Tickets have gone on sale for a special Halloween theatre performance at Grotton Pavilion. Oldham Children’s Theatre, which has in the past put on Christmas and Easter shows at Uppermill Civic Hall, is turning its attention to something a little spookier!

The fun runs between 3pm and 7pm on 30 October. There’ll be a variety of activities taking place which youngsters can get involved in, including haunted horror stories, bobbing for apples, pumpkin carving and face painting.
