Local computer company giving children a helping hand at Christmas …

A computing company from Uppermill have gathered a large stash of presents and continue to do so for needy children in Manchester. The presents have been dropped off by locals to support Key 103’s ‘Mission Christmas’. All donations go to Cash for Kids Charity and are distributed around Manchester.

Two Greater Manchester MPs have shown their support for homelessness charity Emmaus Mossley as they work to overcome the challenges presented by the government’s welfare reforms.

On Friday 27 October, Debbie Abrahams, MP for Oldham East and Saddleworth, and Jonathan Reynolds, MP for Stalybridge and Hyde, had a tour of the Emmaus Mossley social enterprise, meeting with beneficiaries and staff to discuss homelessness and welfare reform.

Indie rock band Cabbage and Terry Waite CBE wowed the crowd at a day-long event to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of homelessness charity Emmaus Mossley.

Emmaus Mossley’s 20th Birthday Bash took place on Saturday 16 September, celebrating 20 years since the opening of the homelessness community at Longlands Mill. The free event for supporters of the charity included live music, special guests, a charity auction and fun activities throughout the day.

A man was left for dead following a vicious and sustained attack, which saw him suffering a fractured skull as well as a bleed on the brain and broken jaw.

Support for local women’s charities by Oldham Theatre

The town’s oldest amateur dramatics theatre, the Lyceum Theatre Oldham, thanks its audience’s continual support. This means that they able to donate to worthy charities in the community every year.

In 2017, they have chosen local charity Inspire Women, part of the Inspiring Futures Partnership CIC to receive £1000, whilst cancer charity Maggie’s Oldham receives £250. Ongoing plans to erect a statue of Oldham’s local suffragette Annie Kenney receives £50.
