‘Be a Santa to a Senior’ this Christmas

Reporter: Ruby Anstee
If you’re fortunate enough to have your family and friends around you this Christmas spare a thought for those older people who’ll spend the day alone. It’s been estimated that nearly half a million older people in the UK will spend Christmas day on their own, and most of them won’t receive a single present.

If you’d like to help change this for those older people in and around Oldham, now’s your chance. You can help in the following ways:

Firstly you can buy or donate a present: Home Instead Senior Care has teamed up with the Tesco Extra store on Huddersfield Road, members of our team will be at the Tesco store TODAY (tues 28) between 10am and 4pm, people can go to the Tesco store, select and purchase a gift and hand it to one of the team.

Or you could drop the gift at the Home Instead office; 113-115 High Street, Uppermill any time between 9am-5pm Monday-Thursday and up to 4pm on Friday.

The gifts will be wrapped by volunteers and either distributed to the individual’s home or dropped off at identified organisations, just in time for Christmas.

Alternatively you can come along and have a brew with us at the Satellite Centre in Greenfield on Monday 4th December between 10.30am -12noon all donations will go to buying gifts.
