Alex and Sarah are Santa-dashing for MIND

Saddleworth newsReporter: Judith Grinter

Meet two jolly local runners who are running in the Santa Dash this Saturday. Alex Rawsthorne and Sarah Edge are joining in with the 5K run to raise money for the Charity MIND and to have a barrel load of fun. The Santa Dash will involve 1,000 runners dressed as Santa. Last year there were 100 runners.  This year, the route will start and finish in the Square in Uppermill, running down the High Street towards Greenfield, before heading over a lower route than last year via Boarshurst.’

Alex told Saddleworth News : ” This will be my first 5K fundraising run but Sarah did the Heaton Park Race for life earlier in the year where she raised just under £200 for Cancer Research UK”

Alex and Sarah are hoping to raise funds and awareness for Mind, the mental health charity.  Alex told Saddleworth News: “They do fantastic work supporting those suffering with mental health issues. Currently there are two us who will be fundraising and because it is the Santa dash I will be running in a Mrs Santa dress costume as a way to hopefully gain a bit more attention to our fundraising by doing the event in drag.”

If you happen to spot Alex and Sarah in the crowd please give them a cheer!
