Tributes To Two Local Dignitaries

Two leading figures of the Saddleworth community have died. Yesterday’s Chronicle carried the news of the death of John Edwards from Greenfield, who was the Chairman of Oldham Mountain Rescue. There was also a report on the funeral of Howard Crowther, who farmed land above Dove Stone Reservoir.

Concern Over Possible Lamb Rustling

Farmers in our area have raised concerns about possible lamb rustling. Several suspicious cars have been reported in our area, with the occupants claiming to be looking for lambs for sale.

The police have already been informed. But if you see anything suspicious, you can contact the police station in Uppermill on 0161 856 4523.

When Channel M Went To Higher Oxhey Farm

Guardian Media Group, which owns Manchester’s Channel M television, yesterday confirmed the station is going to stop making original news programmes.
